*Note: data on how much water it takes to produce a pound of beef varies greatly, depending on geography and calculation methods. Estimates from different sources range from 2,500 gallons to 7,500 gallons per pound.  FSP has used an older,  commonly-referenced value of 2,500 gallons per pound.  For a discussion on the validity of this value, please click here.
